Health is the most important thing we have, and the aim of yoga is to bring or maintain health in the body, mind, and spirit.
My classes involve balanced practices that develop the whole body without causing fatigue, and they always include the following:
- Postural practice (Asana). These are movements studied to improve not only your flexibility, as well as your everyday mobility. Having a strong and flexible spine helps to keep the body young. Additionally, this will benefit your blood-flow, the functioning of your internal organs, and the endocrine system.
- Breathing practices (Pranayama). Learning how to regulate your breathing is key to alleviate stress and bring up our energy levels.
- Relaxation (Savasana/Yoga Nidra), in order to have a stress-free practice. This relaxation is guided, so that you may relax your body and free your mind, but stay present and make the most out of your practice.
This practice can be followed by all, as it is gentle but effective.
Elisa Citro’s Background
As a life-long Hatha Yoga practitioner and student, I have always had a great interest in Yoga and its many benefits which can impact the individual’s life for the best.
I grew up in my father’s Yoga studio in Rome, where people can find aid in finding mental and physical tranquility. Adhering to the same principles which have had an impact on so many people, I keep my practice simple, but well-rounded and harmonious.
I also love Indian culture, so I have been studying Sanskrit and Hindi. I have studied Indian classical dance Bharatanatyam for five years, and Odissi for one year. I have also briefly studied Sitar at the Bhavan, in London.
